My son is thirteen years old and in seventh grade. Seventh grade was by far the hardest school year for me. I did not adjust to Junior High, I could not focus, and honestly I barely got by. Luckily I did a lot better after but it was a year I just had a hard time with.
I love this for so many reasons. I love this as a former high school and Legion scorebook keeper who saw the politics of the game up close. I love this for the perceptiveness of it. I love for it the father’s love that shines through. And I love it because sometimes the good guys win.
I love it too. The pride in your voice. The love of baseball that continues through the family. The memories of my father instilling his love of baseball in all his children. The one time every summer we were able to go to see the Royals are some of my favorite memories. How my siblings and I have carried this through to our children. How my son loved to play since kindergarten. Overhearing his kindergarten coach tell someone to watch our son, he's got an arm like a cannon. How our son nearly pitched a no-hitter on the best team in their league. All the love...
I'm not much into baseball anymore (but as a young child I used to watch with my grandpa and drink a couple of sips of beer). However, this story brought tears to my eyes. Congrats to your lovely boy on his baseball prowess, and to you for being a wonderful dad

I love the relationship you have with your son. You're both awesome!
